On November 14, 2018, the international scientific conference «Youth in the socio-political and cultural life of Africa» was held at the Institute for African studies. The conference was organized by the Center for sociological and political studies of the Institute for African studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Centre for Russian-African relations and foreign policy of the African countries of the Institute for African studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Center of History and Cultural Anthropology of the Institute for African studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Center for global and strategic studies of the Institute for African studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the laboratory of Oriental and African studies of the General History Department of the Yaroslavl Demidov State University.
Forty five Russian scientists and social activists, ten foreign participants attended the conference. The conference was held within the framework of an interdisciplinary approach and gathered experts in different fields: economists, philosophers, sociologists, historians, anthropologists, cultural scientists and teachers. Among the participants of the conference were both employees of the organizing centers and representatives of such organizations and universities as the Moscow house of Compatriot under the government of Moscow, the Public chamber of Moscow, the Ministry of higher education and science of the Russian Federation, the diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the People's Friendship University, the Moscow State Linguistic University.
The scientific reports were divided into the following blocks: 1. Students in the USSR / the Russian Federation; Youth: work and employment; Youth and politics (including information politics); Childhood, adolescence and youth in the context of cultural anthropology. In 2019 a collective monograph, based on the conference results, will be published.
