On December 14-15, 2022, the All-Russian Scientific Conference “Sources for African History: Problems, Trends, Prospects of Study and Use”. was held, dedicated to the birthdays of famous africanists Georgii Tsypkin, Irina Filatova, and Alexander Balezin. The event was organized by the Center for African Studies of the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences. and was conducted offline and online.
The Center for History and Cultural Anthropology members took an active part in the work of the panels as moderators and speakers. Presentations were made by: Valentina Gribanova ("Historical Facts and Their Interpretation in Family Memories (based on the materials of a field study in Namibia)"), Natalia Krylova ("Women's Emigration in Africa. Features of Working with Auto-documentary Sources"), Irina Tatarovskaya ("Mythology as a Source for the Study of Philosophical Ideas among the Peoples of Tropical Africa"), and Nadezhda Khokholkova ("Historical Sources in the Context of Studying the Memory of the Colonial Past in Tanzania").
